Tony Wood Hair at Salon International 2017
In 2017, Tony had the opportunity to continue fulfilling one of his strongest passions — sharing his knowledge and inspiring others — when he represented Goldwell at the industry’s largest trade event: Hairdressers Journal’s Salon International.
Goldwell are primarily known as a colour house, but the brand is also very focused on cutting education, with incredible ambassadors like Jay Mahmood.
“The show was a buzz!” Tony said. “We were in Barcelona for Color Zoom 2017 when we started planning it. I was chuffed to bits to find out the compère would be Bev C. I have always had such admiration for her, and she was so relaxing to work with.”
Tony also got to share the stage with the uber-cool Joel from Slunks, a salon in Cardiff. “Slunks’ Instagram is amazing. The colour work they share just blows me away,” Tony commented.
Tony’s show saw him performing on Fellowship for British Hair’s stage and showing his ‘chic androgyny’ cuts to a very enthusiastic crowd, while setting out his vision for haircutting in 2018.
“We prepped off-site, and when we arrived just before our slot, I must admit: I got the willies a little when I realized we would take to the stage straight after Mr. Patrick Cameron. The guy is an absolute legend. Deep breaths!”
Tony feels very lucky to have traveled the world representing haircare brands and sharing his passions in many different countries, whether it’s Goldwell at Salon International, Dyson and their Supersonic hair dryer at a catwalk show in London, or the Magic Scissors project he conceived, which saw him venturing all over the UK to meet celebrity hairdressers who donated the cost of a haircut to a charity drive supporting the next generation of hairdressers in Uganda.
